Green Day’s ‘When I Come Around’ Has Been Certified Silver

This has been a long time coming.

25 years after it was initially released, Green Day's classic single 'When I Come Around' has officially been certified Silver in the UK.

Back in 2009 'When I Come Around' was certified Gold in Australia and the US - so the UK is slightly behind on this one. But in defence of the UK, 'When I Come Around' did chart at number 27 (and didn't chart in the US at all).

To earn a Silver certification in the UK, Green Day had to sell the equivalent of 200,000 units - so a whole lot. It begins to make sense why it took 25 years to get there!

Additional fun 'Dookie'-era Green Day Facts:
-The UK is the only territory where 'Basket Case' has been certified Platinum.
-'Dookie' is 3x Platinum in the UK.
