Green Day Members Made A Surprise Appearance At A California Block Party + Played An Hour Of Covers

But not a Green Day song in sight.

If you've been a fan of Green Day for a while, you might already be familiar with the fact that Billie Joe Amstrong and Mike Dirnt have a covers band called The Coverups.

The Coverups don't pop up very often - in fact, they've only ever performed live a total of seven times. Which is why it was such a big surprise that Billie Joe and co popped up at a block party in Oakland, California last week, and played an hour-long set.

Accompanied by a number of friends, Billie Joe tore through 19 covers in just over an hour-long performance, including classics from the likes of Nirvana, David Bowie and Misfits. Basically, it looked like a very good time.
