The frontman finished off a recent Cannes show in serious style.
Green Day and The Longshot frontman Billie Joe Armstrong pulled off a classic rock star move at a recent show in France, throwing his £5000 guitar into a swimming pool.
Page Six reports that Armstrong was hired to perform at an event during the Cannes Lions advertising festival, running through many of his hits and covers by the likes of David Bowie, with his son Joey from SWMRS accompanying him on drums.
But, after wrapping up his set with a rendition of 'Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)', the acoustic guitar ended up straight in the Villa pool. “Oh man, that’s a rental. It costs £5,000.” said one panicked member of the crew.
Billie also took the opportunity to make some political points while introducing 'American Idiot':
"I fucking hate Donald Trump. It’s like acid gone wrong. LSD and the alt right, what the hell? I didn’t think this shit was going to happen."
He also shared a passionate message referencing the recent controversial immigration laws in the US:
"It’s so important that we look out for each other and we show compassion for humanity and our neighbor. I don’t know who it is in France, but in California it’s called Mexico."
As we previously reported, there is currently an online campaign to get 'American Idiot' to the UK number 1 spot during a planned visit from Donald Trump next month.
The Longshot have just completed a US tour after the release of their self-titled debut album earlier this year.
