Can we have it now? How about now?

Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy is reportedly going to become a Netflix show.

The Splash Report have been told that a pilot episode has been adapted by screenwriter Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist, Death Note) and that Gerard is involved!

They were also informed that an announcement is expected soon, possibly at this year's Comic Con (San Diego, July 20 - 23).

Jeremy has since confirmed that the pilot (at least) is expected next year.

"I took the job because I’m such an immense fan of what Gerard [Way] and Gabriel [Ba] did with that book." he told Collider last year.

"There’s a lot of weird shit in The Umbrella Academy, and it would be very easy to sand down some of those weird edges and make it more familiar to American audiences. I’m fighting very hard to not let that happen."

Can't. Wait.

Wondering what it's all about?

"Once, the Umbrella Academy was unstoppable. Under the tutelage of their guardian and mentor, Dr. Reginald Hargreeves, its members spent their childhoods fighting evil and honing their extraordinary gifts. Until something went terribly wrong." reads the promotional blurb for Volume 1.

"Now, nine years later, the estranged members of the Umbrella Academy are reunited by the death of the only parent they've ever known and the rise of a new and terrible threat. Will they be able to overcome their history for long enough to save the world one more time?"

We can't say any more without ruining it - but it's well worth your time.
