During a recent interview with 93XRadio, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor discussed the spinal surgery he underwent after he broke his neck without realising it.
"I went in for... an old man physical," he laughed. "You know, you hit 40 and you're like 'okay, I got all these issues and I'd like to know why.'"
It didn't take long for his doctor to discover an issue with his spine and after an MRI scan, Corey was told he broke his neck "a while back."
"It's been the last few years of my life, [there was] something physically wrong," he said. "The strength of my right side was completely gone. I had the strength of an 80-year-old, basically."
"There was a host of different things, but the only thing I can think of is I fell off stage in '99 and landed on top of my head - I fell four feet off stage, landed... Being 25, you know, brushed it off. 'I can still feel everything, I must be fine.'"
But in reality, the Slipknot frontman broke his neck.
"My C5 and C6 got compressed together, crushed the disc and slowely but surely started growing into my spinal chord. The doctor couldn't believe I was walking."

Corey got back onstage a few weeks ago, but was banned from headbanging and jumping by doctors.
