"It was such a cool little thing"

Back in March, Against The Current's Chrissy Constanza appeared on an episode of My Hero Academia, providing the singing voice for the character Jirou.

In our recent Video Call with Chrissy we asked how that came together. This is what she had to say...

"I think that came through our Japanese label. They knew that I’m learning Japanese and I love being in Japan. It’s one of my favourite places ever. It just felt like a really natural collab. The whole squad flew to New York, a bunch of people from the animation studio. A bunch of people. I’ve never had so many people watching me track audio before. It was quite intimidating. Just 11 Japanese men sitting in the control room and I was just like ’Sup guys’."

"It was such a cool little thing. Because she’s in a band and playing at a school show, it felt appropriate.

"The funniest part was definitely retranslating some of the lyrics because they already translated them but it was more of an interpretation. It was written in Japanese and then basically interpreted into English and some of the lyrics were just not what anyone would ever say."

You can check out the full chat, including some details on what the band have been working on in lockdown, right here:

And here's the performance for ya too:
