Some good news at the end of Warped Tour.
Warped Tour is over, and it's a sad moment for all of us. However, Motionless In White's Chris Motionless has given us reason to celebrate, revealing that now that the Motionless have finished their summer run on Warped they're getting straight back in to working on their new album.
Speaking to AntiHero at Warped Tour, Chris Motionless has revealed where the band is at with their follow-up to last year's 'Graveyard Shift', and what the album is going to sound like.
When asked if Motionless In White have started working on the new album, Chris said "Yeah, we’ve been working pretty much all year actually- we tried to write on Warped Tour but it’s impossible. It’s impossible. I was like “I’m going to go out there and I’m going to spend a certain amount of hours every day working on new music”- and I haven’t been able to do much of that because it’s just so much every day."
But their run on Warped Tour doesn't mean that work hasn't started, revealing "We are about halfway through the writing process. After this tour we’re going to get right back in to it and get in to a studio as soon as possible."
And when asked what fans can expect the new music to sound like, Chris revealed that the new album will follow the same musical themes of 'Graveyard Shift', stating "It’s going to pretty much revolve around what we did with the most recent album ‘Graveyard Shift’- we really really liked where that album ended up, and it’s no secret that the fans do too. So to see that we love what we’re doing and the fans are supporting that whole-heartedly? I mean, if you go to our Spotify, every single song in our top 10 except for ‘Reincarnate’ is off the new album, and that’s been out for a year and a half.
That’s a great indicator for us- that’s the way we like to interpret that information about what’s happening and see what the fans like as well . That they back this new thing that we’ve done makes us want to continue in that direction."
But if you think that means they'll be shying away from incorporating new sounds and directions in their new music, you needn't worry- with Chris confirming "we’ll have a few... I don’t want to say experimental or risk-takers on the album, but we’ll definitely push in different directions that we haven’t before. But I think it’ll mostly be centralised around the sounds from our last album."
So it's all sounding VERY promising in the Motionless In White camp. Consider us excited.
