"I tended to shut off when things would get way too serious." - Caleb Shomo.
In this month's issue of Rock Sound, we go in-depth with former-Attack Attack!, and current Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo, in his biggest career-spanning interview ever.
Across eight pages, Caleb leaves no page unturned, and goes in deep on the history of both bands, and what it was like being thrust to fame so quickly.
Speaking about growing up in the limelight, Caleb shared, “In the beginning everything genuinely was just all for fun and us just trying to have a good time. We got really big, really fast. We went through member changes and people losing their minds a bit and all those things you would expect from a bunch of kids thrown into this band.
"I think I shut off a little bit, especially towards the end. I was never the party guy or the guy banging all the girls, that was never my thing. I just loved the music part of all of it. I tended to shut off when things would get way too serious."
He continued "The business got so important and so much of the point of the band got lost. I dealt with a lot of mental shit and that was all culminating and getting worse over the years and us continually getting bigger. It was so much harder to even have conversations because you didn’t know what the intent was. You’ll meet a handful of great people but after a couple of weeks they will be trying to dig something out of you. You never really know what people’s intentions are.
"I think that’s one of the reasons that I am generally so quiet online now. I’m not the sort of person that wants everyone to know absolutely everything about my life. Then on the other hand, this is my job and it’s the best way for the people to find out what is going on. It’s all about finding the balance.”
