Mark, Travis and Matt dusted off a fan favourite from 'Enema Of The State' during a recent Las Vegas show.
Blink-182 are currently in the midst of their much anticipated residency at The Palm resort in Las Vegas and they have been taking the opportunity to throw a few forgotten classics into their setlist.
Mark Hoppus recently chatted with Las Vegas Weekly about the band's performance of 'The Party Song', from 1999's 'Enema Of The State' album, when Mark revealed that "we’ve never played it before last weekend".
While there is some footage of the band giving a few rare, impromptu performances of the track in 2010 and 2011, this appears to be the first time 'The Party Song' has made it into the official setlist and with the current lineup of Mark, Travis Barker and Matt Skiba.
Check out the performance below:
What a tune.
However, if you're hoping to catch this classic live at any of the band's upcoming shows, maybe don't get your hopes up as Mark thinks it is unlikely they will ever play it again:
"I’ll peel back the curtain a little bit. For us and for hardcore Blink fans, it was a cool song, [but it’s] a deep cut from an album that came out almost 20 years ago, so a lot of people just had no idea. And first of all, it’s a hard song to play...It’s super fast. There’s nowhere to breathe. We had to work long and hard at rehearsal so that I sing the majority of the line and Matt sings the end of the line, just long enough for me to take a break and start the next line. It was a lot of work to do, and we played it and some people were like, “I can’t believe they’re playing this!” and some people were like, “What is this song?” These are good problems to have, that your catalog is so big some people don’t recognize the songs."
Hey, at least there'll be plenty of other bangers to enjoy!
Blink-182 continue their vegas residency into the Fall. The band are also said to have started work on their next album, the follow-up to 2016's 'California'.
