Billie Joe Armstrong's rumoured new band The Longshot is no longer a rumour.

Earlier this month, we lifted the lid on a conspiracy theory that Green Day's Billie Joe was working on a new side-project by the name of The Longshot. On instagram, Billie Joe teased that an album by The Longshot, entitled 'Love Is For Losers', will be "coming eventually sooner or later. Probably sooner".

There's now a whole lot more certainty around The Longshot, and it turns out that "probably sooner" was pretty damn accurate. The debut single from The Longshot 'Love Is For Losers' premiered overnight in the most bizarre and oldschool way. The track debuted on a US Bay Area radio station (Alt 105.3) after it was mysteriously delivered to a station DJ in an unmarked box.

After ascertaining that the unmarked box was legit and didn't contain any dismembered body parts, 'Love Is For Losers' got to have its world debut. On the radio.

Fortunately for all of us, the song has been released on YouTube for our listening pleasure:

They've also released a further two songs on Youtube; 'Chasing A Ghost':

And 'Taxi Driver':

Billie Joe has now confirmed the existence of the band on instagram, and you can finally follow the formerly locked instagram account of The Longshot:
