"I want to take out a lot of my angry nature on this record," he says.
Caleb Shomo is hard at work on Beartooth's second album. Are you excited? We're excited, so in our latest magazine we caught up with the man himself to see how it's going...
YOUR FIRST ALBUM 'DISGUSTING\ SEEMED TO COME FROM A VERY DARK PLACE. WILL THIS ONE BE DRAWING FROM A HAPPIER PLACE? "From a much different place, definitely. The first record was very inwardly self-deprecating and dark, kinda hopeless too. I think our next album will be much more… I just want this record to be super pissed off! I'm in such a good place now and it's almost like I’m angry at the stuff that I went through. I just need to let some of that out instead of just shooting myself the entire time. I'm happy, but I want to take out a lot of my angry nature on this record."
YOU WROTE AND RECORDED ALL OF THE EARLY BEARTOOTH MATERIAL YOURSELF. WILL THAT BE THE CASE GOING FORWARD OR ARE THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE BAND MORE INVOLVED NOW? "It's still just me. That was something from the beginning of the band that was very clearly spelled out. I write it all, record it all and play it all – just the records of course, live everybody is up there playing and everyone is a totally equal member. I just take care of the songwriting and that side of stuff. So yeah, it’s kinda in my hands how the record and 2016 goes."
