It may not have been out for a year, but the 'Entertainment' era is coming to a close.
When the lads in Waterparks were in town recently, Rock Sound sat down for a chat with them. We talked through everything from 'Entertainment', through to Kyle Fletchers' new music, becoming parents and everything in between.
Waterparks frontman Awsten Knight revealed during our chat that the 'Entertainment' era was drawing to a close, following their upcoming US tour with IDKHow.
Speaking about 'Entertainment', Awsten shared "Yo, I’ve been done with that. I think it’s towards the end- I mean we’ve only got one last ‘Entertainment’ tour coming up. And I would rather um… not, than keep touring on it for another year."
This doesn't come as much of a surprise to a lot of Waterparks fans, following a letter Awsten penned earlier this year summarising his thoughts and feelings on 'Entertainment' before it was released, which read:
"To be transparent and blunt, the last couple of months have been weird, difficult and everything else that sits in the realm of 'bad'. I lost a lot mentally and physically. Certain things happened and to be (overly) honest with you 'Entertainment' was ruined for me.
I stopped listening to it and it felt weird to hype it in interviews. However, the worst part was the pure dread I felt thinking 'Fuck I still have to tour on this and sing these words every night.' The idea of that was actual torture."
So maybe it's best to call a day on 'Entertainment', for Awsten's sake.
