Are The Academy Is… Planning To Release New Music?
DO IT.
It might be wishful thinking, but some tweets out of The Academy Is... have kicked off some theories that the band are planning a return this year.
The Academy Is... called it a day in 2011, and broke all of our collective hearts. But they did reform in 2015 for an appearance at Riot Fest, and a 10 year anniversary tour for their album 'Almost Here'. Since then, they've made no further concrete comment about the fate of the band.
They've also been pretty good about celebrating the 10th anniversaries of their albums, and there just so happens to be a 10th anniversary this year for their classic 'Fast Times At Barrington High'...
Which is why this is all so exciting.
It all started off with a tweet from Jason Tate, just thinking out loud about what an album from The Academy Is... would sound like in the year of our lord, 2018.
I wonder what a The Academy Is... album would sound like in 2018. (In my hypothetical, I’d like to see them in the studio with someone like Jake Sinclair behind the boards.)

Now by itself, that's not really much to go on. It's probably something a lot of us would have thought about.
But here's where it gets juicy. Bassist for The Academy Is..., Adam Siska, tweeted in reply that he'd often wondered about that as well.
I often wonder this as well... https://t.co/21rodi4ONp

And so did drummer Andy Mrotek.
Me too!

That's 40% of the lineup from The Academy Is... talking about new music in 2018.
Needless to say, fans have taken to twitter to back the band in a return:
Me too!
