If that gets you excited for Angels & Airwaves new album 'The Dream Walker' (due out December 09 through To The Stars Records), you can pre-order it here. The tracklisting looks a little bit like this:
Teenagers & Rituals
Kiss With A Spell
Bullets In The Wind
The album itself is just one part of a much grander plan the band have that encompasses an animated film, comic books and so much more. We caught up with Tom Delonge a few weeks ago to get the full skinny of what Angels & Airwaves have up their sleeves.
SO THE ALBUM ISN’T ALL THAT’S COMING… “On this project, there’s stuff going off. We’re writing a novel that’ll come out in Spring, The comics drop at Christmas, the apparel and collectibles will start coming out in the New Year, the album is coming out in December and the feature film will follow that. It’s never been done this way.”
HOW DOES THIS PROJECT COMPARE TO EVERYTHING ELSE YOU’VE EVER TACKLED? “Artistically, it’s the most challenging. This has never been done in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. Pink Floyd did this amazing movie and had $20million to do that, bands have done a comic book but we’re the first to do an actual narrative.”
WHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND ‘THE DREAM WALKER’? “It’s about two brothers who are orphans, one of which goes into a coma. The main character – Poet – believes he can reach his brother in the dream world."
WHERE DID THIS CHARACTER COME FROM? “Poet Anderson I dreamed up about 15 years ago or so in Paris. I was up really late in a hotel room and I just dreamed up this little character. The idea around the dream thing was from when I saw a documentary on nightmares preparing human beings for real world events. That really struck a chord with me and I wanted to create stories about it.”
