Chrissy Costanza tell us how her lyric writing improved after listening to Dave Grohl.
Against The Current have spoken about some of the musical influences on their new album 'Past Lives', including Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl.
The band are guests on this week's Rock Sound Podcast where Chrissy Costanza revealed that she had been inspired by Grohl's lyrical style when writing the record:
"The things that we take influence from are probably not things that would be very obvious to anyone else. So, ok, during the album process I listened to a bunch of Foo Fighters stuff and I was like, Dave Grohl has a really cool way of saying things. You're probably not going to listen to 'Past Lives' and go 'Hmm, this was probably influenced by the Foo Fighters'..."
"But there's these little subtleties. So for me, I'm very wordy, I have a hard time being concise. And then one thing I've taken away from somebody like Dave Grohl is he can say so much in the simplest way. So when we were writing something like 'Come Alive', there's not a lot of space for words in that chorus. So it's how do you say a lot with so little space?"
Dave Grohl ladies and gents - the king of a concise lyric.
