AC/DC founder Malcolm Young has passed away at 64.

The guitarist - who exited the band in 2014 due to his ongoing health issues - was a founding member of the band, which helped shape modern rock music.

Malcolm's brother Angus - AC/DC's lead guitarist - paid tribute to his late sibling.

"As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special.

"He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever.

"Malcolm, job well done."

The band has also released a statement saying Malcolm was, "The driving force behind the band," and "As a guitarist, songwriter and visionary he was a perfectionist and a unique man."
