A Day To Remember have confirmed that they’ve started writing material for their new record.

A Day To Remember have confirmed that they’ve started writing material for their new record.

“For our new album we actually have all of the pop/punk song ideas written,” lead vocalist Jeremy McKinnon told Rock Sound.

“At the moment we have about ten songs but we have to try and shrink that down to five. And we’re then going to write five heavier songs – because we always have to have that balance or else it just wouldn’t be A Day To Remember.”

The record – their fourth full-length – will see the band dispel rumours that their new direction is purely pop-punk based.

“A lot of people on the internet are saying we’re going to go and turn into an all out pop-punk band. But we’re not,” the singer stated. “I mean if we wanted to be a pop-punk band we would have done that from the start. It will always be half and half.”

And finally, how does it sound?

“I think the pop-punk stuff has a darker edge to it. I wrote it like that, it’s still pop-punk but with a darker edge.”
