It's a meme already, but we take a look at some scene crossover events that are far more ambitious than Marvel's Infinity War.
01. 'The River' - Good Charlotte feat. M. Shadows and Synyster Gates
2007 was an entirely different time. 2007 saw what can only be described as the most ambitious crossover event in history. 2007 gave us a Good Charlotte single featuring two members of Avenged Sevenfold.
02. 'Stayin' Out All Night' - Wiz Khalifa feat. Fall Out Boy
Fall Out Boy have never shied away from a genre-bending collab or crossover. Not forgetting of course that their 2013 album 'Save Rock And Roll' featured Elton John, Big Sean and Courtney Love, and their latest album 'MANIA' has a feature from Burna Boy. But it was when Fall Out Boy announced a co-headline tour of the US with Wiz Khalifa in 2015 that we were exposed to what is truly one of the most ambitious crossover events in history. The tour manifested in the above Wiz Khalifa single featuring the lads in Fall Out Boy, and it's not only ambitious- it's a certified banger.
03. 'Bury It' - Chvrches feat. Hayley Williams
It all started when Hayley joined Chvrches on stage at Parahoy to perform this live. Fortunately for all of us it was so well received that they rushed in to the studio to bring us this. Truly, an ambitious crossover event. One might call it a more ambitious crossover event than Marvel's Infinity War.
04. 'Love In The Middle Of A Firefight' - Dillon Francis feat. Brendon Urie
It's a bromance for the ages, and an ambitious scene crossover. Brendon lent his dulcet tones to this Dillon Francis club banger, and it went so well that Dillon Francis is set to make an appearance on the upcoming Panic! At The Disco album.
05. 'Hopes Up' - nothing, nowhere. feat. Dashboard Confessional
It's the song that essentially launched nothing, nowhere. in to the scene, and in to our hearts. The Dashboard Confessional feature definitely worked to solidify his emo roots, and the genre crossover was ambitious, and it bloody works.
06. 'A Love Like War' - All Time Low feat. Vic Fuentes
Anything that combines the vocal abilities of Alex Gaskarth and Vic Fuentes can only be called ambitious. Arguably one of the best collabs of all time. Marvel's Infinity War, who?
07. 'Cupid's Chokehold' - Gym Class Heroes feat. Patrick Stump (and Katy Perry)
Remember when everyone signed to Fueled By Ramen used to feature on each others' singles? The 00's where a good time for the scene. Most ambitious of those singles though has to go to Gym Class Heroes for 'Cupid's Chokehold', not just for Patrick Stump's stellar vocal feature- but also because if you watch closely, you'll spy that Katy Perry plays a leading role. Wild. Ambitious.
08. 'Bite My Tongue' - You Me At Six feat. Oli Sykes
09. The Twenty One Pilots x MUTEMATH Sessions
It was so incredible that Twenty One Pilots even brought out MUTEMATH to perform it live at Hangout Festival last year. Truly, a moment. Truly an ambitious crossover event.
10. 'December [again]' - Neck Deep feat. Mark Hoppus
The original version was good, but this version featuring Mark Hoppus is truly great.
11. 'Ground Control' - All Time Low feat. Tegan and Sara
Truthfully, All Time Low have so many incredible crossovers that it's hard to choose just one. But 'Ground Control' featuring Tegan and Sara takes the crown as the most ambitious for featuring an entire other band. And for being a certified bop.
12. 'What A Catch, Donnie' - Fall Out Boy feat. everyone on Fueled By Ramen
It's the song that broke our collective hearts. But it's possibly the single most ambitious crossover event in history (sorry, Marvel's Infinity War). The song has vocal features from Brendon Urie, Travie McCoy, Gabe Saporta, Alex DeLeon, William Beckett and Elvis Costello. It truly captures the essence of the scene in the 00's, and is nothing if not absolutely ambitious.
