Verses release their new EP 'No World For Us' next week, and if all goes to plan it will be followed by many, many, many more records as the quartet are aiming to be "one of those bands that sticks around and releases god-knows-how-many-albums".
Find out more about their ambition in Rock Sound Issue 154, for now read what inspires the group according to singer/guitarist Jason Danzelman...
Rock Bands That Last "We are inspired by bands that have carved out their own identity and have longevity in their careers. Bands like the Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World and Thrice have always been a huge influence on us, and have been a big part as we've grown as musicians."
Staying Positive "Being a new band in this kind of industry can be very tiring and disheartening at times, but we have always agreed that there is no point dwelling on the negative side of things. We always try to convey this in our songs too, and always make sure we focus on good times."
Being Independent "At the moment it's mostly just us four handling almost every aspect of this band, and while this can be stressful it makes us more driven to succeed. When certain things do pay off and go our way it makes the sense of pride even more amazing."
Real Friends "When you are a band on the road a lot you start to learn who your real friends are, they are the ones who are still there for you when you return home, and actually believe in us as much as we believe in ourselves."
Band Unity "We look around us and see a lot of bitchiness and back-stabbing between bands, but it's just totally pointless. Some of our best friends are bands we have toured with and when those bands achieve their goals we are proud of them and vice versa. There is no need for jealousy in the music industry."
Partying "We always like to make sure we have a good time and party on the road, there is no better feeling than traveling round the country doing what we love, meeting new people and having a few drinks along the way."
