2018 has been a big year for music. A huge year for music.
We know what our favourites have been- but what have artists spent 2018 spinning? We decided to ask.
These are the albums that the lovely Lights has been spinning in 2018!
Drake - 'Scorpion'
"As an avid Drake fan and serial Drake coverer, I liked Scorpion before it even came out. When it came out I covered the entire side B acoustically in the first week. You can find it at iamlights.com/music (shameless plug okay). His vocals and lyrics and vibes are so clever and unique and special and this will be on rotation until the next thing he puts out, probably this same year."
Calpurnia - 'Scout'
"These kids are killing it. I watched them at Osheaga Festival this summer and I saw a bunch of young kids in the crowd dancing to happy, sloppy rock and roll and it made me feel like something new is around the bend. Despite Finn’s fame from Stranger Things, this is a real band doing it the real way."
Young the Giant - 'Mirror Master'
"Just got off tour with these dudes and they are incredible live, plus the songs and musicianship is immaculate. I don’t often stick around to watch full sets because I’m crusty and jaded? But I watched their full set over and over and never got tired of it. Great band, great music, great players."
Arkells - 'Rally Cry'
"Arkells constantly put on the best live shows I’ve witnessed, and this just so happens to be their best record. Each song on 'Rally Cry' reminds me of something else nostalgic or a good memory from my life and it pleases me greatly. They always one up themselves, I don’t know how that happens."
Blessthefall - 'Hard Feelings'
"This is Blessthefall’s best record yet. The song writing is better than ever and Beau (happens to be my husband but that’s neither here nor there) is using his voice in ways that he never has. The melodies and lyrics are sick and it’s heavy where it needs to be."
