Go inside album four!
Tonight Alive's new album 'Underworld' is just around the corner (January 12 via Hopeless), and it's full of big moments.
Here's our guide to the whole thing...
01. BOOK OF LOVE
A sweeping, cinematic statement of intent, this feels like a fusion of 'Limitless' at its strongest with the energy and urgency that made the band’s name - with some pretty hefty riffs thrown in for good measure.
Is this the best song Tonight Alive have ever written? It’s certainly up there: a brutally honest and cathartic anthem.
Featuring an incredible guest appearance from Lynn Gunn of PVRIS, 'Disappear' is a subtle but atmospheric left-turn. If you want to experience just how much the band have evolved over the past eight years, look no further.
04. THE OTHER
"Never really knew what it meant // Just always knew that I was different" begins Jenna on this powerful exploration of otherness and identity - set to a backdrop of dynamic alt.rock. Just try not being moved.
05. IN MY DREAMS
Here’s another return to the more pop-centric sound of 'Limitless', albeit with an even broader scope. It’s kind of sad, kind of inspiring - and would be perfect on a movie soundtrack.
06. FOR YOU
This one’s more of a slow-burn, gradually building towards a blockbuster chorus. Sometimes you just need a good old-fashioned love song on a record, and this is the 'Underworld' version.
07. CRACK MY HEART
Things get even more intense with another slice of heart-on-sleeve drama; arguably the record’s emotional core. Check out the video below:
08. JUST FOR NOW
"If the pain is endless // how can I live?" asks Jenna on this haunting track about finding solace in the people close to us. Yet in the infectious chorus, there are hints of light in the darkness.
09. BURNING ON
Punctuated with '80s new wave-style synths and understated - but memorable - melodies, track nine represents Tonight Alive at their most radio-friendly. And that’s no bad thing.
10. WAITING FOR THE END
Though that title sounds ominous, this is actually a defiant call to arms: Jenna declaring that "I’m proud to stand for more than living scared to death" upon a backdrop of slamming guitars. The chorus should sound huge live.
11. LAST LIGHT
It never hurts to have an epic power ballad or two in your repertoire, and TA have added another one to theirs with this electro-tinged stomper. Feels, feels everywhere. Speaking of which…
12. LOOKING FOR HEAVEN
Set to a minimal piano accompaniment, this features one of Jenna’s most powerful and affecting vocal performances to date. If they play it on tour, there won’t be a dry eye in the house.
13. MY UNDERWORLD
With Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor providing guest vocals, this is the grand, final flourish. Like much of the rest of 'Underworld', it's bold, emotional, and provocative stuff.
