This Is What We Learned From Dallon Weekes’ Facebook Live Q&A

1/2 of I Don't Know How But They Found Me had a lot to say!

This weekend I Don't Know But They Found Me's Dallon Weekes took to our Facebook for a live Q&A.

This is what we learned.

THE ALBUM IS COMING
"I'm hoping that we will be able to release the album soon. We're still trying to add more songs to it while we're waiting. That's sort of what's going on right now. We're waiting for record label offers to be finalised so we can make a decision and then figure out a release date after that. So hopefully it won't be too much longer."

HE DOESN'T KNOW EXACTLY HOW MANY TRACKS IT'S GOING TO HAVE THOUGH
"Kind of depends on how we release it. Maybe we will do an EP release first with a few songs and then go back and do a full length and record even more songs. We don't know. We can't really know for for sure until the deals are worked out."

AND HE MAY OR MAY NOT BE MAKING THE ARTWORK
"I thought about it but i'm not sure. I made a cover already but it got leaked a while ago and now I don't want to use it. Now I want to make something else so we will see."

HE WANTS TO TOUR THE WORLD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
"We sure hope to do that pretty soon. Right now it's not about what we want to do, because we want to go everything. It's what we can afford to do. We want to tour around the world, we just don't want to go broke doing it. It's going to take some time but we're going to get out of the US."

HIS FAVOURITE IDK SONG HASN'T BEEN RELEASED YET
"The one that I like the most is one that you guys haven't heard yet called 'From The Gallows'. If you're familiar with a band called The Inkspots who were an old jazz barbershop outfit from the 1930's and 40's. I really love them and I wanted to do a song in that vein. I haven't quite figured out a way to do it live yet with just the two of us. Soon as I figure that out we will start playing it."

'NOBODY LIKE THE OPENING BAND' COMES FROM A VERY PERSONAL PLACE
"It's just sort of dealing with the anxieties that I have about being an opening act when you go and take the stage for a crowd that's not yours. You think about that stuff sometimes but I guess the song is about trying to cut through those anxieties and address the elephants in the room and acknowledge the crowd is not there to see you."

AND THE BANANA THROWING IN THE VIDEO CAME VERY NATURALLY
"I was really happy. We came up with the idea for the ending while we were filming it. We didn't plan on bananas but we just had a bunch of them around from people who were there. Please don't ever throw bananas at me at a show."

HE IS STILL LEARNING TO DEAL WITH THE BAND'S GROWING POPULARITY
"It's a cool feeling but also one that i'm trying to approach with caution. It's a delicate thing. I don't want to take advantage of Panic! fans. I know that was a big part of my life over the last 8 years but I didn't want to ride on anyone's coat tails I guess. I guess that's why we started playing shows in secret in LA. We would play for crowds of people who didn't know what bands we were in and didn't care. That was a thing that was important to me. If this thing succeeded or failed I wanted to make sure that we did it on our own, which is challenging because in reality i'm coming from a band that's really popular. It's a challenge but I want to do that delicately."

AND HE IS ABSOLUTELY FINE WITH PEOPLE ASKING HIM ABOUT PANIC! AT THE DISCO
"It's good memories. It was a part of my life for 8 years and it's a job that I loved to do. Any job has good parts and bad parts but the good parts I experienced there greatly outweigh and outshine any of the bad parts that I experienced. So I don't mind people bringing that up."
