These Are Some Of The Scariest Songs Ever Committed To Tape

It's Halloween! And to celebrate we thought we would put together a list of some of the scariest songs that bands have ever recorded. BOO! Gotcha.

SLIPKNOT - 'DISASTERPIECE'
To be honest, the whole of The Knot's second album is pretty heavy listening, but there is something about the building layers that kick off its 4th track that just make your skin crawl. Like being in a box full of coachroaches.

GHOSTMANE - 'FLESH'
Flesh is a bloody horrible word init? Ghostmane knows this and wants to use it to his advantage as much as possible by using it as the title to this claustraphobic number.

MARILYN MANSON - 'SWEET DREAMS (ARE MADE OF THIS)'
Manson is the king of spooky and he really hit his absolute peak with this cover of an 80's synth classic. From his stuttering delivery to its slow burning atmosphere all the way through to the goddamn video, this is the sort of music that keeps you awake at night, right?

SUICIDE SILENCE - 'HANDS OF A KILLER'
'The Cleansing' is what we expect it would feel like to be pummelled into a pulp by a massive hammer. For that reason alone it is utterly terrifying, but on 'Hands Of A Killer' the band sound utterly devilish. Proper horror movie fodder.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER - 'WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE'
When half the songs that you write are about horror movies to begin with, you're gonna be a pretty scary band aren't you? Though there's something about this slab of evil from 2007 that outdoes it all. Sweet dreams.

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE - 'SCISSORHANDS (THE FINAL SNOW)'
The closing crescendo on Motionless In White's brilliantly graphic and haunting debut takes everything that has come before it and launches it all at you in one massive burst of discomfort. Nobody does horror quite like them.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA - 'ESCAPE'
Seriously, will there ever be a better set of songs written about Zombies? No is the answer. The sheer hopelessness of the character's survival chances that exists within this, the first song on TDWP's masterstroke, is enough to make your blood turn cold.

CODE ORANGE - 'KILL THE CREATOR'
Modern hardcore bands are doing a really good job of making you want to hide behind your sofa just as much as making you want to mosh. Code Orange are leading the way, and everything about 'Kill The Creator' scares the hell out of us.

BLACK TONGUE - 'I'M SO TIRED OF SIGHING. PLEASE LORD, LET IT BE NIGHT'
You will need to have a bath to clean off the filth after listening to this satanic opus. The whispering in the background, the chanting, the utter brutality of that final breakdown. You'll be drawing pentagrams on everything for weeks.

LORNA SHORE - 'GODMAKER'
Whispers, scratches, off key pianos, disorientating windchimes. All part of the charm that comes with this malicious slice of deathcore from Lorna Shore. Pure evil.

NINE INCH NAILS - 'CLOSER'
Just, listen.
