You can try and deny it, but everybody loves a remix. A reworked version of one of your favourite songs but with more of a dancable edge is a simple but effective pleasure and there are some brilliant ones out there. Here are some of the best.
ENTER SHIKARI - 'ANAETHETIST' (RESO REMIX)
Kings of the rework. Lords of the dancefloor. Shikari have been asking people to remix their songs for donkey's years. They even bootleg their own stuff under their Shikari Sound System moniker. There is a plethora of messed up tunes to sink your teeth in to if you have the time, but there's something about the aggressive drum and bass of Reso that compliments this song so brilliantly. Real recognises real.
BRING ME THE HORIZON - 'SLEEP WITH ONE EYE OPEN' (TEK-ONE REMIX)
Dubstep and metal have always had a passionate relationship. Though there are few examples that hit you in the temple quite like Tek-One and Bring Me. Famous for making all of their beats using tinkered-with children's toys, the scene duo turned one of the band's most disgusting songs into something wholly unpalletable.
ASKING ALEXANDRIA - THE FINAL EPISODE (BORGORE REMIX)
Those Asking boys have always loved their electronics. It wasn't until 2011 that they let a plethora of bassline junkies spit all over their tunes though. Borgore's darkly comic take on this classic has enough firepower in its arsenal to get even the most stubborn pair of hips shaking.
LIGHTS - SAVAGES (PVRIS REMIX)
Is there anything PVRIS can't do?!?! The band manage to turn one of Lights' most rampant moments from last year's 'Skin & Earth' into a slowburning, sensual and satisfying epic.
FALL OUT BOY - THIS AIN'T A SCENE, IT'S AN ARMS RACE (KANYE WEST)
Kanye West has made more killer beats than you've had hot dinners and that is a goddamn fact. He even gifted one of his more soulful creations to FOB back in 2007 and transformed 'Arms Race' into this soulfully experimental banger.
TWIN ATLANTIC - MAKE A BEAST OF MYSELF (HADOUKEN! REMIX)
Two different institutions of British music, both as undeniably relevant and riotious as the other. Together at last. You know when you don't realise how much you needed something till you have it? That's what this behemoth represents.
ALL TIME LOW - WEIGHTLESS (THE SECRET HANDSHAKE REMIX)
You don't get more 2009 than this. One of ATL's finest moments moulded into a cutesy bedroom jam ready made for your Myspace front page. Listen to it on loop as you try and perfect your Top 8.
WE THE KINGS - SAD SONG (RJ REMIX)
We love being basic. Who doesn't love a moment of euphoric basicness every now and then? Where you just enjoy something in its simplest form and smile till your mouth hurts. That's what this sunshine tinged rework of We The King's 'Sad Song' feels like. Now drive off into the sunset with us, you rascal.
SKRILLEX - SCARY MONSTERS AND NICE SPRITES (DIRTYPHONICS REMIX)
So what do you get when a post-hardcore lead singer turned international DJ famous for his remixes gets remixed himself? You get the sort of filth that you only find at the back of your oven after not cleaning it for 5 years.
DON BROCO - SUPERLOVE (DELLUX REMIX)
If you weren't already aware, Dellux is responsible for all of the beats that Astroid Boys bounce around to. He took a break from the trap beats to put together this hot and sweaty house track for those Don Broco scallywags though.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - PLANETARY (GO!) (LAGS GALLOWS REMIX)
Already a party starter in its own right, the addition of Lags from Gallows turning some knobs added an extra layer of euphoria to this MCR classic. Fist pump till it falls off.
EVANESCENCE - BRING ME TO LIFE (RADICAL JAAY & NIC SPITERI BOOTLEG)
You know when you fall down a deep hole on the Internet and you aren't sure how to get out. Then you keep digging and keep getting more and more into it and then you stumble upon something you never expected? This is where this toe tapper comes in.
AGAINST THE CURRENT - LEGENDS NEVER DIE (ALAN WALKER REMIX)
Remember when Against The Current sang the theme song for the world League Of Legends tournament? Well it got remixed by one of the biggest DJs in the world and it absolutely slaps.
LINKIN PARK - ONE MORE LIGHT (STEVE AOKI REMIX)
As a long time collaborator and friend of the band, Steve Aoki paid tribute to Chester Bennington in the only way he knew how with this remix of 'One More Light' and the result is even more beautiful than any of us thought possible. Chester Forever.
Now, destroy that dancefloor.
