These Are 15 of The Best Album Openers Ever

A good start to an album is key to it being successful, and this lot got it spot on.

15. FIGHTSTAR - 'SHARP TONGUE'
After 'Be Human', Fightstar took a bit of time off to pursue other passions. Then when they returned, they chose to use THIS as their entrance music. Bold and brutal in perfect harmony. Just the way we like it.

14. YOUNG GUNS - 'I HAVE BORN, I HAVE LIVED, I WILL SURELY DIE'
The word anthem gets thrown around a lot these days, but when it comes to the opening crescendo of Young Guns' second album, it is totally justifed. Incorporating all the elements that made this album on the British rock's finest, you'll be hard pushed to find a big sounding first track on an album.

13. FOUR YEAR STRONG - 'IT MUST REALLY SUCK TO BE IN FOUR YEAR STRONG RIGHT NOW'
When you're writing opening tracks of this scale, things can't really suck that much, can they?

12. THE WONDER YEARS - 'MY LAST SEMESTER'
The best albums tell stories and every story needs a cracking beginning. The autobiographical nature of Dan Campbell's lyrics kick this pop-punk classic off in real style.

11. THE GHOST INSIDE - 'THIS IS WHAT I KNOW ABOUT SACRIFICE'
You want to start things off with a really bang right? Well The Ghost Inside kicked off their third full length with some lyrics that make you want to beat at your chest like King Kong after a Red Bull and a duo of breakdowns that will have you stomping holes in your bedroom floor. You're most certaintly awake now.

10. SUM 41 - 'THE HELL SONG'
The sound of spit being gobbed on the floor before 3 minutes of the snottiest pop-punk ever grace our ears is a real big mood.

09. KNOCKED LOOSE - 'OBLIVIONS PEAK'
A good hardcore record makes you want to headbutt your best mate the moment that it kicks in. Knocked Loose made us want to batter our whole Facebook friends list with this killer.

08. ENTER SHIKARI - 'THE APPEAL & THE MINDSWEEP I'
The best openers are unexpected and this one from those Shikari boys is an absolute doozy for that. Rou Reynold's quick tongue getting more and more frantic before out of absolutely nowhere a devestating riff hits and menlody takes over. A lot happens here and that is what makes it so utterly brilliant.

07. BRING ME THE HORIZON - 'THE COMEDOWN'
Now, this is how you make a statement. With a riff flithier than the back of your oven and a sound unlike anything else anyone was doing, this really was the start of BMTH's rise to the top of the pile.

06. STATE CHAMPS - 'ELEVATED'
On an album that is overflowing with brilliant pop-punk moments, those State Champs lads decided to start it off with one of the best. Just try and not scream back every word of this beauty.

05. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - 'HELENA'
The slow build. The dramatic verses. The huge chorus. Everything that makes this absolute classic tick is inch perfect. Accept no exceptions.

04. BLINK-182 - 'FEELING THIS'
Blink have always been a cut above the rest when it comes to kicking their albums off, with each record being iconic in its own right. Yet there's something about the passionate aggression of 'Feeling This' that just puts it above the rest.

03. GREEN DAY - 'AMERICAN IDIOT'
One of the biggest albums of all time was never going to start quietly was it?

02. ALL TIME LOW  - 'WEIGHTLESS'
"Manage me, i'm a mess" and the rest is history.

01. FALL OUT BOY - 'THRILLER'
The breakdown. The appearance by Jay-Z. The self awareness of the success that they have garnered in the years previous to its release. This is Fall Out Boy at their most poetic and passionate.
