"This song is dedicated to anyone struggling with heartbreak and depression."
We are delighted to be able to share with you 'U 2', the new track from 408.
The band have been taking pop-punk into exciting and exploratory new places over the last year, and that continues on this heartbreak anthem of the highest order.
Delving into the rawest parts of the genre, both lyrically and musically, it is a deep-set and devastating description of what it means to think you have found a place to call home and then have it ripped away from you.
It also features some extra magic courtesy of the legendary Aaron Gillespie, who adds his own unique voice to the mix.
Bassist/vocalist Mark Faroudi had this to say about putting it together:
"The song "U 2" was written specifically about a traumatic relationship that I was going through. The relationship started out as what I was searching for my whole life, only to then watch it crumble as quickly as if it started. Now coming out the other side, I was able to find myself and clarity. The song is inherently dark as it’s a direct correlation to the story I was living at the time, as well as my mental state. This song is dedicated to anyone struggling with heartbreak and depression.
"We all fully immersed ourselves in the track during the recording process. Jake Cerretani laid down the iconic drum beat in the intro of the song which set the tone for the entire track. We are very proud of the diverse influences that we were able to channel on this track. As a band, we wanted it to have the same kind of timeless vibe of Blink, +44, Underøath, A Day to Remember, The Used, and all the bands we still love to this day."
And this about working with Aaron:
"Aaron Gillespie is a legend and master of his craft. Aaron vocals in Underøath were such an early influence for myself and the band. When the band had the opportunity to place Aaron on the track we jumped at the chance; it was a perfect unity of voices. 408 and Aaron crossing creative paths on this track is further proof that the universe works in mysterious ways.
Here we go then:
The track is set to appear on the band's upcoming new album 'Out Of It' set for an October 28th release date via BreakSilence Recordings/Regime Music Group.
It will also feature 'Mark Hoppus', which has guest appearances from Kellin Quinn and Magnolia Park's Josh Roberts.
