You voted for Vic Fuentes to be in the Rock Sound 50, so we sat down with him to talk about what it means to be influential.

CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING VOTED PART OF THE ROCK SOUND 50! WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU?

Says Vic: “It's an honor. I was a quiet kid growing up, so I had to find a way to make myself louder than everyone else. Music was the one thing that allowed me to make a lot of noise in the world and gave me a voice. I think everybody has something like this.”

DO YOU PERSONALLY FEEL ANY PRESSURE TO SET AN EXAMPLE?

Not at all. I'm not perfect, you're not perfect. Anyone who thinks they are is lying.”

DOES YOUR STATURE AS A SUCCESSFUL MUSICIAN COME WITH SOME CONCESSIONS? YOU’VE SPOKEN ABOUT PRIVACY BEFORE…

There has to be some boundaries. We all need a place to call home and not be bothered sometimes.“

HOW DO YOU WANT TO USE YOUR PLATFORM FOR GOOD?

We stand up for the causes that we personally believe in. Like the Living The Dream Foundation, for example. I really love working with them because we get to meet the people that we are trying to help on tour."

WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO?

I really admire any band that makes their own decisions and doesn't let others influence or alter the path that they have set for their band.

"Pearl Jam are a great example - DIY since day one. They stand up for their beliefs, no matter how much shit they get for it sometimes. I love that about them
."
