Summer is long gone. The seasons are changing and the sun is nowhere to be seen. So because of that, we thought we would put together some songs about just that. Sorry.
BASEMENT - 'PLAN TO BE SURPRISED'
On 11's 'I Wish I Could Stay Here', Basement sang a LOT about the how cold it was outside. It came to a point on this lovely banger as Andrew Fisher screams for you to let him in. Just do it, he will catch his death out there.
AFI - 'LOVE LIKE WINTER'
Cold weather makes for a cracking metaphor doesn't it. In this case, Davey Havok and co compare the feeling of love to that of the bitter winds biting at you from the east. Who hurt you guys?
FALL OUT BOY - 'GRAND THEFT AUTUMN/WHERE IS YOUR BOY'
Though not actually about the weather, it's a cracking pun init? Like you would never that thought of that would you? That's why Fall Out Boy are iconic and you're not.
NECK DEEP - 'DECEMBER'
December is pretty bloody grim to begin with, even more than your heart is shattered into a thousand pieces. You can feel the chill on your shoulders as you listen to this sad classic.
GREEN DAY - 'WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS'
We tried our best to not to succomb to the same old joke, but we couldn't help it. We're weak. Billie Joe reminded us that summer had come and passed and that we should set his alarm for when October starts 14 years ago, and we still do it every time.
BILLY TALENT - 'FALLEN LEAVES'
If you can go anywhere near a pile of leaves and not kick them as hard as you can, you've got stronger willpower than us. We sometimes jump in them as well. That always gets us told off.
DEAF HAVANA - 'ST PAULS'
A slow burning and beautiful song about feeling lost and alone in the city from those Deaf Havana lads. The sort of song that makes you reach for the scarf that you're not even wearing.
FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES - 'AUTUMN'S MONOLOGUE'
Come on, when a classic post-hardcore band names themselves after a season you have to include them don't you. Here's a beauty from way back in 2003.
YOU ME AT SIX - 'BE WHO YOU ARE'
The sentiment behind this tune is basically that with each passing season, feelings won't fade. How bloody cute is that?!?
THE WONDER YEARS - 'HOODIE WEATHER'
Is there anything a hoodie can't do? Happy? Hoodie. Sad? Hoodie. Angry? Hoodie. Hungry? Hoodie. Cold. You bet you should wear a hoody. Hoodie is the solution to everything.
YELLOWCARD - 'SLEEP IN THE SNOW'
We wouldn't recommend sleeping in the snow. It's cold, wet and in many way not very comfortable. Though at the same time, if your mum has turned the heating off it could be warmer than inside your house.
MAN OVERBOARD - 'SEPTEMBERISM'
Man Overboard always knew how to really cut through the fat to get to your heart. This tale of trying to rekindle love as the temperature drops is still one of their finest moments.
SEAWAY - 'KEEP YOUR STICK ON THE ICE'
You know when it's like really really cold, and the lakes freeze? How many of you dare to try and walk on it? Well Seaway only go and lay on the one in their hometown! Risky life forever.
REAL FRIENDS - 'HOME FOR FALL'
Real Friends make the sort of music that fits in with the tone of the season perfectly. Sentimentality and crunchy leaves. Does it get any better?
THE SWELLERS - 'PARKVIEW'
Whenever we think of clearing snow two things pop to mind. This song and Homer Simpson in his Mr Plow jacket. Both are brilliant in very different ways.
