Who’d have thought that when UK hardcore punks Million Dead called it a day in a rather untimely manner that gangly frontman Frank Turner would carve out a successful solo career as a crooner. Having already surpassed the musical output of his former band, Turner is making quite a name for himself. Next year will see him support The Gaslight Anthem on their Feb UK tour and record his third full-length album. This week sees the release of ‘The First Three Years’ compilation, on Xtra Mile, featuring early, rare and unreleased tracks – it’s the perfect compendium of a truly talented UK songwriter who just keeps on getting better and better.
