14 years ago My Chemical Romance blessed us with their ground-breakingly brilliant sophomore album 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge'. Yeah, 14. To celebrate the occasion we have pulled together the best of the lost and forgotten tracks by one of the best bands ever.
KILL ALL YOUR FRIENDS
Slow burning, sinister and sultry all at the same time, this is the spirit of ‘The Black Parade’ at its absolute finest.
JACK THE RIPPER
MCR always loved a cover version, and no artist was too out there to attempt. This take on a Morrissey classic is up there with their rawest.
BLACK DRAGON FIGHTING SOCIETY
Available only on the Mad Gear and Missile Kid EP that came as part of the CA 2019 box set, this is a rip-roaring slice of punk rock straight outta MCR’s most flamboyant era.
STAY (SOMEONE OUT THERE LOVES YOU)
An unreleased gem from The Black Parade days. Appearing as a live version on ‘The Black Parade Is Dead!’, it’s a track filled with the sort of drama that made this inception of the band so endearing.
THE WORLD IS UGLY
‘Conventional Weapons’ is already a treasure trove of unreleased magic from the Romance lads. Yet if you did even deeper you can find even those tracks in their most basic of forms. Take this emotional run through of ‘The World Is Ugly’ which later appeared on ‘Number Three’.
One of the best covers ever? 100% no question don’t even @ us.
A bonus ‘Danger Days’ nugget filled with jolting synths and punk-rock aggression by the boatload. SO good.
HEAVEN HELP US
"HEAAAAAAAAAAVEN HELP US NOW COME CRASHIIIIIIIING DOOOOOOOOOWN"
SISTER TO SLEEP
Originally found on the band’s demo, a full studio version of this jolting, and at times rather terrifying, jam was recorded around the time of ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ but never saw the light of day. Waaaaah.
NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL
What a blessing it was when the band released all of their demos from the Black Parade recording sessions in the form of ‘Living With Ghosts’. This toe-tapping sassy sample was a real highlight.
Stick your nose into ‘Life On The Murder Scene’ to find this hidden gem. Goddamn, what a band.
One of the 28 songs that made up the ‘Conventional Weapons’ sessions yet didn’t make the final cut of 11. It doesn’t get much more rare than this.
THE FIVE OF US ARE DYING
This is what ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ could have sounded like. Still a banger.
