All Of These Band’s Names Are Influenced By Other Band’s Songs

When you're starting a band, the name is more important than anything else. Where most just pull something wonderful out of nothing, others are inspired by their favourite band's songs. Here are some of the best examples.

NECK DEEP
There has been much debate over the years about where Neck Deep originally got their name from. Many suggested that it came from Title Fight's scrappy pop-punk opus of the same name. Yet the band cleared up the confusion and stated that it's actually taken from a lyric in 'Boom, Roasted', a brilliant song by cult pop-punkers Crucial Dudes

THE STORY SO FAR
If you're going to name your band after a song, you may as well head straight to royalty. Parker Cannon and Co pulled their name from an album track on New Found Glory's 'Stick & Stones'. It's still one of the best conversations we've ever had.

ROAM
And the the cycle continues. In the same way that The Story So Far were influenced by NFG, ROAM were influenced by TSSF.

MAN OVERBOARD
Pop-punk loves a legend. Everybody's favourite romantics took their name from the Blink-182 song that appeared as a bonus on 'The Mark, Tom and Travis Show'.

HIT THE LIGHTS
Hit The Lights have always liked to dip their toes into the heavier side of things when producing their unique brand of pop-punk. So it comes as no surprise that they pulled their name from the classic Metallica track of the same name. Riff your head off.

NORTHLANE
It's pretty mad when you think that a song you wrote can infleunce a band from completely the other side of the world. Yet that's exactly what Architects' 'North Lane' did for those Northlane boys.

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND
You thought that these Welsh legends had just pulled their gloriously bleak name out of the air? Nah mate, they got it from post-hardcore/ emo legends Planes Mistaken For Stars' debut album.

PIERCE THE VEIL
Known for their expansive and mind melting output, it shouldn't surprise you that PTV pulled their name from an equally unique band.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
My Chemical Romance influence us pretty much every day of our lives, so it only makes sense that there are bands who have pulled influence from the band so much they want to be named after them. Enter Famous Last Words.

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS
Originally the saddest emo band in the world were called A Day In The Life, which was pulled directly from The Beatles' song of the same name. Everyday is a school day.

ALL TIME LOW
Real recognising real once again, All Time Low got their name from a line in the New Found Glory tune 'Head On Collision'. Where would we be without NFG?

TAKING BACK SUNDAY
An absolutely wonderful band name that we bet you didn't know originated from a song! Long Island pop-punkers were responsible for these beauty.

TROPHY EYES
The influence of You Me At Six is far-reaching. Literally on the other side of the world, the lads in Trophy Eyes were inspired by this You Me At Six track, and who could blame them?
