Justin Sane from Anti-Flag has penned a great big letter to the man he used to be. We published the first half last week, and now you can check out part two below.
"Over the years you will have tough choices to make. Some people will say you didn’t try hard enough or didn’t care, some people will say you’re no good, too punk, not punk enough, you’re a sellout, your band sucks, you suck, blah blah blah… The reality is that most of these people will disappear from the scene and your life within a very short time.
It's important to remember that the shit talkers don’t have to walk in your shoes or or live with the consequences of your choices, but you do! Stick to this path and good things will follow. From time to time you will make mistakes because no one is perfect, but don’t sweat it and don’t live in regret. Learn from your mistakes and move forward.
I could go on and on about how you were right about evil corporations taking over the governments of the world, war being nothing but a money making scheme for the war-profiteering rich and the fact that in spite of all the shit there are amazing people who are going to save the planet.
In closing, I will say that your songs are going to affect many people’s lives in a positive way and as a result those people are going to head out into the world and make it a better place. So do the best you can, don’t be too hard on yourself and know that you are making a difference in the world. If I could give you only one small piece of advice in this column it would be to stay positive, learn from misfortunate, be empathic and compassionate, forgive everybody and open your heart to everyone.
In short, be excellent."
