A Comprehensive Guide To Panic! At The Disco B-Sides And Rarities

There's a whole lot of them, too.

Is there anything better than a b-side? Don't answer that- the answer is no.

Fortunately the only person who loves a b-side more than we do is Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie. And that means that we've been treated to a whole lot of them over the years.

So many that we've compiled them in to one big educational list for you.

For clarity, we've omitted any covers, live versions and ones shared on periscope. We're talking studio quality here. STUDIO. QUALITY.

In no specific order- your guide to Panic! At The Disco's b-sides and rarities.

01. 'STALL ME' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

Here's a fun fact for you- Panic! At The Disco released six different versions of 'Vices & Virtues', each with varying b-sides. This is only one of them. We can't be sure why this absolute banger didn't make the cut, but what we do know is that it made the cut as a bonus track on the iTunes version of the album.

02. 'IT'S ALMOST HALLOWEEN'

It's hard to provide any kind of real context for this one- it just appeared on the internet a few days before Halloween in 2008. And no one really spoke of it again, except for Zack Hall confirming that it was recorded in a bathroom. On a laptop.

03. 'CAN'T FIGHT AGAINST THE YOUTH' - 'TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE' B-SIDE

This is one of the best Panic! At The Disco b-sides ever, do not even bother @ing us. This bop was released on the Japanese version of 'Too Weird', which begs the question- why does Japan always get the sick bonus tracks?

04. 'I WANNA BE FREE' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

A bonus track exclusively released on the Target release of 'Vices & Virtues', 'I Wanna Be Free' is a strong track, and we can't imagine why it didn't make the cut on the regular version of the album.

05. 'C'MON'

Y'all already know how we feel about this one. It's woefully under-respected. It has never got the love that it deserves. We wrote a piece on it recently

06. 'TURN OFF THE LIGHTS' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

Surprise! It's another b-side from 'Vices & Virtues'! This one was exclusively part of the physical CD sold at American Target stores. Real talk- how many copies of 'Vices & Virtues' did you end up with in order to get all of these b-sides?

07. 'NEW PERSPECTIVE'

Panic! recorded this for the Jennifer’s Body soundtrack back in 2009. It’s a great song, and leaves very little to the imagination with classic lyrics LIKE “I feel the salty waves come in, I feel them crash against my skin”, and the more on the nose “can we fast-forward ’til you go down on me”. Oh, Brendon. If you can put aside the sexual connotations (or even if you can’t) this song is brilliant.

08. 'KALEIDOSCOPE EYES' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

Saddle up- it's tme for another 'Vices' b-side. And guess what? This isn't even the last one on this list! This one gets a noted shout-out for the nonsense-poetry lyrics like “I’m just a white bloodcell, fighting like hell for you”. 'Kaleidoscope Eyes' was released as an exclusive bonus track on all copies of 'Vices & Virtues' that were pre-ordered through Shock Hound. Also, wait beyond the end of the song to hear Brendon do a maniacal laugh. It’s brilliant.

09. 'MERCENARY'

If you didn't know that Panic! At The Disco wrote and recorded a song for the Batman soundtrack, don't feel too bad. It was released back in 2011 without much hype or fanfair, but it continues to be a fan favourite (read: my favourite).

10. 'BITTERSWEET' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

Everything about this song is brilliant except for the lyrical reference to South Africa (if you know, you know). If this one doesn't make you want to take up rock and roll dancing, I don't know what to tell you.

11. 'ALL THE BOYS' - 'TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE' B-SIDE

This one was released as a bonus track on the 'Nicotine' EP, and was written by former Panic! At The Disco bassist Dallon Weekes. Absolute banger.

12. 'OH GLORY' - 'VICES & VIRTUES' B-SIDE

You guessed it- another 'Vices' b-side! At this point I've entirely run out of things to say about the 'Vices & Virtues' bonus tracks. There's been too many.  I don’t know what you want from me. There’s so many of them. Send help.

BONUS: UN-NAMED, UNRELEASED SONG

This one gets an honourable mention because it's technically a studio version- we just don't have the studio version. Zack Hall accidentally added it to a playlist that played during the House Of Memories museum sessions on the 'Death Of A Bachelor' tour in 2016. This is a song that ALMOST made it on to the album, but didn’t. Which begs the question- how many unreleased Panic! songs does Zack have on his iPod?
