KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES PEACE-OUT FOR GOOD
They came, they rocked for eight solid years, then they left. How do you say goodbye to a band like Kids In Glass Houses? We're still trying to figure that all out, but their final shows at the tail end of October were the best of send-offs.

WAYNE STATIC FOUND DEAD AT 48
Barely a day of November had passed before we woke up to this awful news. Static-X frontman and nu metal legend Wayne Static sadly passed away on November 01, and while the internet speculated that it may have been a drug-related incident (it wasn't), Static's representatives offered the following statement.

"HOLLYWOOD, CA (November 1, 2014) – Today is a sad day in the music industry – Front-man and founding member WAYNE STATIC of STATIC-X passed away quietly in his sleep at his home last night.

The couple [Wayne and his wife Tera Wray Static] was getting ready to leave for a Fall/Winter tour this morning. They were to have left the night before on Halloween, but decided they would head out early in the morning November 1st.

The couple, known for partying heavy, had left hard drugs in 2009 and had not touched them since. Static’s first solo album – Pighammer - was a tribute to his new non-drug life and hoped it would help others to get clean from hard chemical drugs.

More official information about his passing will be released in the following days. This is not a drug related incident or an O. D. Please be courteous to his family and wife and leave positive messages~"

Meanwhile, Wayne's wife Tera Wray Static posted the following tribute to him on her Facebook page:
"I would like to thank everyone on behalf of all the Wayne's family and myself for all the kind words from all of Wayne's friends and fans and other bands. Wayne went very peacefully in his sleep and probably didn't even know that it happened. (Which makes me feel better that he wasn't in pain. )It will be sometime before we know why it happened but I will keep everyone informed. He had so much more to give the world. As his wife, biggest fan, and worshipper, i will keep him alive and finish everything that I can that he has been working on. He will never die and I want to share everything that I can that he has to give to his fans and friends. I will try my hardest to be stong and make him proud."

MIKEY WAY OPENS UP ABOUT REHAB
Despite revealing his new band Electric Century earlier in the year, ex-My Chemical Romance man Mikey Way has spent most of 2014 away from the public eye, Why? Because before he could get Electric Century off the ground, he had some personal battles to fight. Posting an open letter to fans in November, Mikey revealed he'd spent a stint in rehab this year for his addiction problems.

"In February of this year, I flew to the East Coast to finish up the EC record. Upon my arrival, I was told “you aren’t here to record” and I instantly knew what was going on. I was going to rehab. I felt an odd sense of comfort and thanked my friends for doing this for me. In the months prior I had come to realize that my addiction was far past me being able to beat it alone. In all honesty, at that point I was lucky to be alive. I have talked about sobriety in the past but frankly it was all just wishful thinking, I could talk with the best of them but now it's time to do the real work or as they say in the program, "walk the walk".

Physically entering the rehab facility was one of the most terrifying yet rewarding things I have ever done. Getting onstage and playing in front of tens of thousands of people used to be the most frightening thing for me, but getting the help I knew I needed made that look relaxing. During my 31 plus days of treatment, I learned a lot about myself and a lot about what I needed to do to never go back down that path I had been stumbling upon.

I had been self medicating for more than half my life. And as the band grew, so did the introduction of more drugs and more alcohol. Each time I thought I had hit rock bottom I really hadn’t seen the worst yet. When the band broke up, my using had intensified and I fell into total darkness. In the true form of an addict, I disconnected from everyone I knew and pushed away every one I loved. At that point in my life, I was not only lost but in complete self-destruction mode. In February, I was told I should never have woken up."

AC/DC DRUMMER PHIL RUDD ARRESTED IN BIZARRE MURDER-FOR-HIRE CASE
In early November, AC/DC made worldwide headlines, but not because their new album 'Rock Or Bust' was just around the corner. This story was a little darker: drummer Phil Rudd was arrested and charged with attempting to procure the murder of two people and threatening to kill along with various drug charges. The very next day, he was cleared of the most serious allegation (attempt to procure murder) but as we write this, he's still awaiting trial for making threats to kill and possession of drugs. Rudd has pleaded not guilty to the outstanding charges.

At the time of the initial arrest, Rudd's lawyer Paul Mabey said that Rudd suffered "incalculable" damage from the allegations, and that Rudd will defend the charges of making threats to kill. If convicted on that count, Rudd could face seven years in jail.

FALL OUT BOY GET BULL-Y
In a year that's seen them to continue to do whatever the heck they feel like, November brought another Fall Out Boy song. Kinda. This time, the band teamed up with Lupe Fiasco to re-record the Chicago Bulls theme tune. Why? Because Chicago, duh.

PIERCE THE VEIL & SLEEPING WITH SIRENS HIT THE ROAD

...WHILE SLEEPING WITH SIRENS UNVEIL 'KICK ME'
Remember that show Sleeping With Sirens played at Camden's Underworld in August? The band shot a music video earlier in the day, and that made its way onto the internet in November. Let's all just take a moment to appreciate how huge this track is, yeah?

SAVE YOUR BREATH CALL IT A DAY
OH GOD, 2014. You really tried to kill us, didn't you? Another great UK band announced the beginning of the end in November, as Newport pop-punks Save Your Breath decided to knock the whole being-in-a-band thing on the head.

"It's not you, it's me…we're breaking up," bassist and founding member Ben Griffiths said in their exit statement. "After 8 years of the most amazing experiences we've had the privilege of taking part in, it's time for us to hang up the axes. Let's be straight about it, we still love music and we love being in Save Your Breath, but for a band at our level, sometimes life just gets in the way and you have to know when to say, well, when."

BABYMETAL RETURN TO THE UK, WE ALL JUST CAN'T EVEN
When 2014 began, BABYMETAL were an internet phenomenon that the metal community poked fun at. One stunning display at Sonisphere and a return to Brixton in November later, and we're all lapping it up. Your words: did you eat them?

MEANWHILE, WE DISCOVERED THE KOREAN BABYMETAL. UHM. AHH.
It's probably not okay, is it?

A DAY TO REMEMBER CUT SHORT FIRST SHOW OF UK TOUR
This one was just plain awful. On the first date of A Day To Remember's All Signs Point To Britain tour in November, the band had to pull the plug halfway as an audience member plunged from the balcony.

Fingers crossed we never have to report a story like this again.

NORTHLANE RECRUIT NEW VOCALIST MARCUS BRIDGE
Following the departure of original vocalist Adrian Fitipaldes in October, Aussie bruisers Northlane had settled on a replacement by the time November had rolled around. Introducing Marcus Bridge: the man with metalcore's COOLEST mohawk and a set of lungs to challenge the best of them.

"We can’t express enough just how proud we are of Marcus, and how stoked we are to be making music with him," the band said with the initial announcement. 'Rot' is only our first time working together, but It felt right. In March we will have a chance to record an entire album with him, and we couldn’t be more excited for what will come of it. He’s progressed out of sight since he came into the fold, so we can’t wait to see and hear what he will be able to do given a few months."
