11 Things We Learned On Paramore’s Parahoy! Cruise

So good.

For those who don't know, Parahoy! presents the opportunity to see Paramore - and a whole host of other bands - on board a real live cruise ship.

Rock Sound was lucky enough to return for the second voyage and boy, was it worth it! We learned a lot. Namely that...

A CROWD OF 2,500 PEOPLE CAN FEEL LIKE A FAMILY
Upon boarding Parahoy, it's clear that everyone is there for the same reason - to see one of the most iconic bands of our generation and immerse themselves into a true music community. The 'sailaway' show on day one only highlights the intimacy between the band and their fans. Everyone's literally in the same boat!

HAYLEY WILLIAMS COVERING 'HALLELUJAH' IS JUST BRILLIANT
Whether you love the Leonard Cohen version, the Jeff Buckley version, or any other version you may have heard; you may need to rethink your position on your 'favourite' after hearing the Paramore cover.

PARAMORE ARE RECORDING THEIR NEXT ALBUM IN NASHVILLE
Hayley and Taylor announced during a Q&A session that they'll be bringing things back to their roots and recording album five a little closer to home. How are we supposed to wait for that?!

IT SEEMS LIKE PARAMORE CAN DO NO WRONG
When you have your own cruise ship and you're effortlessly blasting out tracks from your debut in the same breath as your most recent record (to the same reception), it's absolutely true.

PARAMORE FANS MAY WELL BE THE MOST DEDICATED IN THE WORLD
At the risk of sounding like 'one of those crazy magazines', Parahoy is the one place on earth where it feels 100% okay to be Paramore OBSESSED. From long-forgotten outros to special treats almost never played live, each and every sailor on this ship can't help but sing along.

THE PARAHOY LINE-UP JUST WORKS...
While several of the artists might seem a little mismatched on paper, everyone on board deserves to be there. X Ambassadors, CHVRCHES, Lights, Vacationer, MeWithoutYou and New Found Glory all bring something different to the table, but it's this versatility which allows the sheer number of shows on board to stay exciting.

...AND SO DOES A LINE-UP FILLED WITH STRONG WOMEN
Duh. From Hayley herself through to Lauren of CHVRCHES and Lights, it's great to see such strong female influence on a trip which takes place at the time of International Women's Day. Take note, major festivals around the world!

NEW FOUND GLORY NEVER DISAPPOINT
Pop-punkers New Found Glory make sense on this bill for a whole tonne of reasons, and while they're the veterans of this cruise, they're still hugely relevant. The guys also appear to enjoy a good English breakfast; dragging two fans on stage dressed as bacon and eggs from the crowd. It made sense at the time. Honest.

PARAMORE FANS CAN SING
When you pull together thousands of people into one place with a common love of music, it's obvious you're going to have plenty of people who've been inspired. From the incredibly talented 'PARAoke' contestants who get to sing for Paramore, to the acoustic singers, regular karaoke singers, and Headphone Disco goers, there's always an excuse for a good singalong. No wonder everyone lost their voices by about day three!

THIS IS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE
UK festivals are the best, but can you go chill out after a long day on your sunny balcony overlooking the ocean? Um, no, you cannot. You get a jam-packed schedule of concerts and activities, all without the mud - and it doesn't cost nearly as much as much as you might think.

You'll meet friends from around the world and have a truly unique experience; so it's pretty much priceless.

PARAHOY IS A SUMMER CAMP FOR MUSIC FANS OF ANY AGE
There was laughter, there were tears, and a very healthy dose of partying (or not...). When you're throwing music, friends, memories, unlimited food, cocktails and a huge helping of sunshine into the mix; you can sign us up again and again and again.

The only complaint? It's just not long enough!
