New music! Acoustic records! Cats!

State Champs are on the cover of the latest Rock Sound magazine!

To celebrate, frontman Derek DiScanio recently held a Q&A on our Facebook page - and it was pretty, pretty great.

Here are 9 things we learned from it:

1. A NEW SONG IS COMING SOON... AND IT'S GOING TO BE SPECIAL
"My favourite song [from new album 'Living Proof'] is maybe the next one that’s going to come out," explained Derek. "I don’t know if I can tell you what song that is yet… but I think you guys are going to like it. I think it’s [out] in the next couple of weeks… a month tops."

2. SPEAKING OF, CHOOSING SINGLES THIS TIME WAS TOUGH
"It was actually kind of a headache - you know are five of us in the band, and we all have to kind of agree. We keep everything fair and make sure that everyone’s okay with everything. It took, definitely, a while… finally we came down to the three or four that are going to be released, and we’re stoked on it."

3. MARK HOPPUS CO-WROTE 'DEAD AND GONE'
"The process for 'Dead And Gone' was pretty cool. We recorded that with John Feldmann in Los Angeles, and co-wrote it with Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 as well, which was really cool for us. We hung out for one day and wrote two songs… there’s another song on the album that he also helped us write.”

4. ALL THREE PRODUCERS HELPED SHAPE THE SOUND OF 'LIVING PROOF'
"There were three main producers on the new album: John Feldmann, Mike Green and Kyle Black. Kyle also did 'Around The World And Back', so we wanted to go back to that kind of sound, that big, punchy full sound. But then bringing in guys like Feldmann and Green, who we’ve already worked with in the past before…  took our songs to a new level. It’s our best record yet, I promise."

5. THERE'S A NOD TO A POP-PUNK CLASSIC IN THE 'DEAD AND GONE' VIDEO
"The [Yellowcard] 'Ocean Avenue' video is one of my favourite videos, and it’s one of my favourite songs. It’s iconic, and they’re an iconic band. It was cool to do a little nod to that with our video."

6. THEY COULD MAKE A NEW ACOUSTIC RECORD IN THE FUTURE
Derek revealed that he'd like to make another acoustic 'Champs release, but maybe this time,"not all acoustic versions of songs from ‘Living Proof'". In the future they could even start from scratch and write some new acoustic songs!

7. YOU COULD DECIDE WHICH SONG GETS A VIDEO
After 'Living Proof' drops on June 15, the band will hold some online polls to find out everyone's favourite tracks, Derek revealed. Based on those, they'll choose which song to make a video for - following a second video that they've already filmed. "Guess I spilled the beans there…"

8. DEREK'S BIGGEST VOCAL INSPIRATIONS ARE...
"Hayley Williams, Patrick Stump, Kenny [Vasoli] from The Starting Line." Hey, he's a man of great taste.

9. ...AND HIS CATS ARE THE BEST
Seriously, just watch this:

'Living Proof' is out June 15 via Pure Noise.
