Fresh from announcing the European dates for their ‘Permission To Land 20’ tour, The Darkness have also confirmed a reissue of their chart-topping debut album.
The reissue, ‘Permission To Land… Again’, is set for release on October 06.
Its announcement today (July 06) falls on the eve of when the album was originally released, all the way back on July 07, 2003.
Released via Atlantic Records, the album raced to the top of the UK Albums chart, where it remained for four weeks, and spent 53 weeks in the Top 100.
In the wake of its success, The Darkness achieved three BRIT Awards, including British Album Of The Year, British Group and British Rock Act.
The record has sold over 1.4 million copies to date.
Regarding the release of the album’s brand-new reissue, The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has said:
“So much has happened since the original release of ‘Permission To Land’ that I can hardly believe it’s only been 20 years. Such turmoil, upheaval, the emotional rollercoaster ride of being nobody, becoming somebody, going back to being nobody and LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT.
“The past two decades have only been this eventful BECAUSE of the impact that our debut album had. I’m grateful for every second of this experience and delighted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the best debut album by The Darkness of all time.
