System Of A Down’s ‘Chop Suey!’ Just Passed 1 Billion Streams

Still a banger!

Congratulations to System Of A Down. The band’s iconic 2001 banger ‘Chop Suey!’ has just surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Taken from the album ‘Toxicity’, the song is certified Platinum in the UK and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. It peaked at No.17 on the UK singles chart and hit the US Billboard 100 at No.76.

The music video has also now been viewed over 1.2bn times on YouTube.

The song was produced by Rick Rubin who revealed in a 2016 interview the reason behind the enigmatic title, saying “This song was originally going to be called “Self-Righteous Suicide,” and the record company rebelled. I remember wanting to go to the mat and keep the title, and the band decided, “Let’s call it ‘Chop Suey!’”which I thought was kind of funny.”

System Of A Down are set to headline the huge Sick New World festival in Las Vegas this May. They will join the likes of Korn, Evanescence, Incubus and Deftones at the event on May 13.
