The Panic! At The Disco frontman pops up several times in the new teen comedy-drama.
Panic! At The Disco frontman Brendon Urie has played an unexpectedly important role in the new movie ‘Love, Simon’ which opened in the US this past weekend.
The teen comedy-drama, starring Nick Robinson and Katherine Langford, focuses on a closeted gay teenager in high school who embarks on an online relationship with an anonymous user.
The soundtrack includes songs by the likes of The 1975 and Troye Sivan but it’s Panic! who leave the biggest impact, with Brendon referenced several times throughout the film as Simon realises he is gay partly through his attraction to the singer.
According to fans online, several Panic! posters can also be spotted in the title character’s bedroom while a clip from an acoustic performance of ‘The Ballad Of Mona Lisa’ also plays briefly during one scene.
What a song!
Fans of the movie certainly seemed delighted to see Brendon pop up on the screen:
‘Love, Simon’ will be released in the UK on April 6th.
Meanwhile, Panic! At The Disco are set to return to the stage later tonight (March 19th) with a show at the Grog Shop in Cleveland, Ohio.
