Put simply, if it wasn’t for The Wonder Years’ ‘The Greatest Generation’ schooling absolutely everyone a few months back, ‘The Finer Things’ would be the best pop-punk album of the year. And, for a band that is yet to really break out of their native Albany, what these upstate New Yorkers have done on their debut is mindblowing. Recorded under the watchful eyes of New Found Glory’s Steve Klein, everything is just so well executed. From the chorus of ‘Elevated’ to the get-up-and-bounce rhythm of ‘Remedy’ and the lush vocal tones in the likes of ‘Critical’, this is a record that just keeps giving. It’s not a progressive album per se, but ‘The Finer Things’ is a bar-raising attempt at revolution in pop-punk.
