It's certainly split opinion, we'll say that...
This review, much like this record, is likely to divide opinion more readily than Marmite. ‘…Like Clockwork’ kicks off in smart fashion with the snarling, distinctively Queens-sounding ‘Keep Your Eyes Peeled’, and from there it continues in not entirely convincing fashion. Whereas the defining ‘Songs For The Deaf’ had menace, punch and conviction, this is the sound of a band struggling to match former glories. It has highlights, certainly, the beautiful ‘The Vampyre Of Time And Memory’ and epic single ‘My God Is The Sun’ being cases in point, but this a largely disappointing return to record for QOTSA.
