Mayday Parade’s sophomore record sees the Florida punk rockers embark on a more grown up direction. Opener ‘Kids In Love’ demonstrates this mature pop-rock sound instantly, opting for subtle hooks and soft guitar melodies. While this departure from the cringe-tastic lyrics and sickly sweet stylings of 07’s debut ‘A Lesson In Romantics’ is welcome for the most part, it does mean a loss of some of the band’s more glorious pop moments. Nevertheless, there’s still plenty of fun to be had with this record, with tracks like ‘Anywhere But Here’ and ‘Get Up’ being prime examples that they haven’t lost their ability to write infectious, feel-good anthems.
In case you'd forgotten, A Day To Remember played a TINY show in London over the weekend, complete with a ticket scavenger hunt for the band's fans beforehand. Adam Elmakias was on hand to capture the crazy.
