Matt Skiba And The Sekrets - Babylon

Alkaline Trio man proves his reliability with new side-project...

You know what the best thing about ‘Babylon’ is? It’s that even though The Sekrets are technically a ‘solo’ project, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree at all, and it could quite easily be passed off as a legitimate Alkaline Trio album without too many people batting an eyelid. And a good Alkaline Trio album at that: ‘Voices’, ‘All Fall Down’ and ‘Haven’t You’ are just brimming with those classic Skiba melodies, and all the songs here are concise and to-the-point. It might be a while until we get a new ‘Trio record, but this is a Brucie Bonus of a stopgap in the meantime.
