Whitechapel - New Era Of Corruption

Rating: 8

Showcasing a new maturity in songwriting, here Whitechapel prove they offer more than their deathcore tag expresses. ‘A New Era Of Corruption’ isn’t a wall of one dimensional breaks, nor does it overuse the blastbeat Whitechapel’s contemporaries seem so fixated with. Instead the band present a truly mixed palette with progressive asides, tempered harmonies and arrangements that take surprising yet complimentary avenues. They still utilise the most powerful traits of deathcore but only sparingly. Whitechapel now appear unconcerned with all-out heaviness, in its place they have sampled the breadth of their genre creating a metal record both balanced and deep.
