We Were Promised Jetpacks - In The Pit Of The Stomach

Scotch rockers deliver again...

From the vocal inflection to the soaring melody and angular hammering riffage, We Were Promised Jetpacks might have something in common with ‘Blackened Sky’-era Biffy Clyro. But, where Biffy were once obtuse, WWPJ are far more open and expansive. Harnessing the use of crescendos, the likes of ‘Circle And Squares’ and ‘Act On Impulse’ are built around repetitive passages that build to epic flourishes of energy and melody - it’s almost an indie-rock take on post-rock. This is a superb record and WWPJ are one more example of just how spoilt we are by British rock music at the moment.
