We Fell To Earth is the new project from Richard File, former member of U.N.K.L.E. and longtime James Lavelle collaborator. It is a band but has all the hallmarks of an art experiment as all the songs meander wildly over large and vast sonic terrains as they deftly avoid genre classifications and boundaries. The project manages to bridge the gap between the electronic and the organic as Wendy Rae Fowler’s vocal provides the sonic glue that keeps everything cohesive instead of combative. It is not as immediate, accessible or obvious as File’s previous work, but it is strong, rewarding and challenging music. Definitely worth a listen.
