Post-Blakfish and Thom, Rich and Wiz have transferred their incongruously chaotic brand of math-pop to new outfit &U&I. While the EP’s five tracks are blessed with all the mayhem and balls-to-the-wall attitude of their former incarnation,the random blasts of hardcore-come-death-pop hone their messier tendencies on song ‘Don’t Die’ which is much more confident in its execution despite the band’s sporadic way of writing. ‘Who Will Look After Adam?’ and ‘The Boy With The Beard’ ape the Blakfish aesthetics the most, but there’s a fresh angle being executed here which is, dare we suggest, more palatable?
