Twilight - Monument To Time End

Rating: 8

So here’s the deal: Twilight began life as something of US black metal supergroup comprising the brains behind Nachtmystium, Leviathan and Krieg, but have now widened their net to include members of Minsk, The Atlas Moth and Isis. However, far from being a case of ‘too many cooks’, ‘Monument To Time End’ is a fascinating piece of work, both sonically rich and structurally cohesive, with each musician contributing something unique to the mix. Black metal is bastardised beyond all recognition as spaced-out synths, weighty doom riffs and clean chanting vocals enter the fray to create something infinitely more intriguing.
