THE TUPOLEV GHOST - ‘THE TUPOLEV GHOST’

Rating: 8

Having been suitably impressed by this lot at an RS sponsored show in Camden last year, it is with a more than a modest degree of excitement that we welcome Cambridge quartet The Tupolev Ghost’s latest mini-album on the ever-reliable BSM. Once again the band isn’t afraid to play around with a couple of different musical styles, particularly on the wonderfully named ‘Giant Fucking Haystacks’, covering post-rock, skewed hardcore and Fugazi-esque post-punk in the space of 5 superb minutes. And so it continues across 6 tracks. It’s hard to locate a reason as to why this lot shouldn’t gain nationwide acclaim as the likes of Hell Is For Heroes did before them.
