Worthy of some overdue mainstream attention.

Maybe it’s because they emerged when the whole Long Island post-hardcore scene had already chosen its posterboys, but
The Sleeping have often been unfairly overlooked. With ‘The Big Deep’ they’ve taken a much more straightforward approach to things than ever before and ended up with a collection of solid, accessible rock songs. While
Douglas Robinson’s vocals are as theatrical and preposterous as ever in ‘Deafening The UK’ and ‘Get Your Back’, there’s a definite sense that this is a record written with mass appeal in mind. Still, it’s a wholly credible attempt and one worthy of some overdue mainstream attention.
